Microsoft Kinect- Natural Gestures

As part of my Diploma Thesis, I researched and experimented with video game technologies to augment visualization and creation of architectural spaces.

My experiments involved using natural gestures when interacting with the virtual spaces created, eliminating the use of rendering, and creating flythroughs of the spaces created. Thus giving first hand experience to the user.

The diagram below, an extract of my Thesis, shows the movement programmed to simulate the motion through the virtual environments. In this case, to move forward, the ‘lifting of the right foot in front’ simulates a forward motion whereas a ‘lifting of the right to the back’ creates a backwards motion. To turn right or left, moving the arm along the respective directions replicates the movement on screen. A physical jump and crouch creates the same motion on screen.
